Blanxart Chocolate Reviews

Blanxart is a Spanish chocolatier that's been whipping up chocolate delights since 1954. We felt smart because we could read the wrapper (yeah, we know, we're easily amused).

Chocolate Negro

10.1.05
These compact little bars come in a pleasing artisan sort of wrapper, making one believe (whether it's true or not), that the chocolate is crafted in small batches by hand. The flavor is deep and rich with nutty or toasted overtones - a little unusual at first. The texture was the tiniest bit coarse, but the pleasant flavor lingered long after the last bite.
Our rating: 4 of 5 bon bons

Chocolate con Leche y Avellanas

10.2.05
Holy hazelnuts, Batman! Not that it isn't delicious - it is - it's just a boon for the hazelnut devotee and perhaps less so for the chocolate lover, although it is a milk chocolate, so one can't expect it to be bursting with chocolate flavor. The overall flavor is better than the dark of this brand, but the chocolate flavor isn't quite as good as the dark, resulting in an equivalent score.
Our rating: 4 of 5 bon bons

Chocolate con Leche

10.3.05
This chocolate would make a lovely Easter bunny. It's rather sweet and milky, but the chocolate flavor that is here is quite nice, albeit fleeting. I can't keep from thinking about Easter bunnies! The texture, like the dark of this brand, is the tiniest bit coarse.
Our rating: 3.5 of 5 bon bons

Chocolate Negro con Almendas (62%)

10.3.05
Not bad, but not outstanding either. The real problem we had with this was its texture - the almonds are so finely chopped that we missed any sort of satisfying crunch, and the chocolate almost seemed airy rather than solid. In short, the chocolate and almonds lacked synergy.
Our rating: 3.5 of 5 bon bons
